Blackwood Building
The Blackwood Building at 2624 W 32nd Avenue is a multi-tenant adaptive reuse project in North Denver that blends modern design with historic charm. The building retains its original façade, which was meticulously restored, while a sleek, shou sugi ban-clad second floor addition enhances the structure without overpowering its historic character. Once a vacant music store, the property has been revitalized by local businesses Davis Urban and Vesel Brand into vibrant office spaces and three ground-floor retail tenants, including Barber Theory, Middle State Coffee House, and Sonny’s Mediterranean Restaurant. The new entry features a custom steel grate leading to a striking steel and glass door. The modern addition is designed to complement rather than overshadow the original building. This project not only revitalizes the street with increased pedestrian activity but also respects and preserves the neighborhood's historical fabric.
