cOOKIE FACTORY
The Cookie Factory in Baker reimagines a former fortune cookie factory as a dynamic art gallery and residence for a prominent art collector. The ground floor retains the original masonry and wood ceilings to honor the building’s industrial past while hosting an expansive gallery space. Above, the client’s home features carefully designed spaces to display a diverse art collection, from large sculptures to textiles. The architecture includes striking custom details such as a sculptural concrete curved stair, a fabricated steel fireplace surround, and folded steel stairs, all of which enhance the art and become art themselves. The design skillfully manipulates large volumes to accommodate various functions without overwhelming the historic neighborhood. The gallery also serves as a versatile event space, having hosted the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver’s “MCA MAX MIX” Runway Show for two consecutive years.
